Drawing and Annealing

COINING's drawing and annealing processes are utilized to manufacture wire to diameters as fine as 0.0005 inch (12.5 microns). Our drawing process reduces the diameter of a wire by pulling the wire through a series of drawing dies, each with a diameter slightly smaller than the proceeding one. We do this at room temperature.

Narrow ribbon products are produced by rolling wire drawn to the same cross-sectional area as the desired ribbon. We anneal both wire and ribbon after metal working to reduce tensile stresses created in the material during drawing and to provide the desired final metallurgical properties.

COINING draws and anneals wire and ribbon products at its plants in the United States and Malaysia to ensure fast lead-times and reliable source of supply for its many customers scattered around the world.
